Heart disease; the first cause of death in the world
While the world increased the prevalence of the risk factors such as smoking, overweight, diabetes, hypertension and sedentary lifestyle, four of every five heart attacks suffered by men are preventable, according to a study published by the American College of cardiologists, through the adoption of healthy habits.
The current problems even more disturbing is the increasing prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors: in Argentina, the latest national survey of risk factors (2013) showed that smoking decreased from 29 per cent in 2005 to 25%, but that increased the numbers of overweight and obesity (almost 60%) and diabetes (approximately 10%).
According to data of the World Heart Federation, problems growing as obesity, hypertension, diabetes and lack of physical activity are the determining causes of the prevalence of cardiovascular disease.
On the other hand, since the Favaloro Foundation ensures that making small changes in everyday life, such as healthy eating, annually a balanced weight, exercise, the abandonment of tobacco and the realization of health checkups can help take care of the heart.
"Cardiovascular diseases not only kill but incapacitating, and that generates many deficiencies in family, labor, social and productive life. The Governments of the world not may face the costs of cardiovascular disease treatment", said Dr. Oscar Mendiz, Director of the Institute of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery of the Favaloro Foundation. The specialist said is key to adapt healthy habits to achieve the reduction of 25 percent in 2025 cardiovascular mortality.
